While 'tech-ing' at Frank Zappa's studio and U.M.R.K. during the early eighty's, I couldn't help but notice the abundance of Quad Eight gates. He had two card cages of them, 10 in each. He used them on just about everything, but especially on the drums. I thought a remake might interest both old-school and up-and-coming engineers. They are very easy to use, not like other gates you've seen that take you time to tweak. External key input. Balanced input and Jensen transformer output. Great Gate! |

Either hanging a pair of 7D8/2's on the buss OR putting one in-line with a kick or bass, these 1178 knockoffs for API type frames have that great character and response of it's classic predecessor. The dual LED metering is a great time-saver. This model, incorporates original input circuitry and a Jensen output TX as well as original control circuitry and dual matched gain FET. By using a 'dummy' FET on an adjacent 7D8/2 and a ribbon cable (included), a pair of 7D8/2's can obtain the true stereo objective. |
